Tauranga adventurers club

Welcome

Welcome to the Tauranga adventurers club

Mount Ngauruhoe in the picture is about 3 hours drive from Tauranga. Climbing it is easy but the view from the top will take your breath away. It's the kind of thing we like to do.

Other things we do include mountain biking - some of us anyway. You wouldn't call us competitive - we tend to go off on weekend trips and sometimes on longer expeditions.

We have some serious mountaineers but generally we're just dreamers when it comes to high mountains. Most of us can be persuaded to head off into the bush for the odd tramping expedition, especially in the South Island. We seem to end up doing a bit of kayaking too.

We like to organise one overseas expedition a year, perhaps trekking in Nepal, crossing the Mogadani desert in 4x4's, cycle touring in Asia, skiing or imbibing culture in Europe.

Our website

It's a convenient way for members to keep in touch, share photos and stories, and see what's going on. We use it to tell friends about our adventures and let potential members know about the club.

You can click through the site to check out planned trips and expeditions in the what's on page. The page is a quick reference for interesting things on the horizon.

There is a reports and photos page. It links to a collection of good and bad stories and pics of some great adventures. They give a good idea of some of our follies. And there are some nice photo album style entries - all in small photos that won't tie up your bandwidth for long.

The club welcomes new members. You'll find more information on the membership page where you can even join up.

You can get in touch by going to the email us page.

The picture above is the club's private spa, hidden deep in the Kaimai ranges, not far from Tauranga. It was discovered by our founding president and its secret entrusted to members.
