Waitawheta Overnighter. We sample the luxury of the new DOC hut in this mysterious valley of the northern Kaimais. Sue took the pictures.

Ngamuwahine to Wairere. A tramp along the hidden byways of the Kaimais.

Wairere Falls. The most scenic spot in the Kaimais. A place we keep going back to. Sue's pictures of our last tramp there.

Wentworth Falls. A fine summer's tramp near Whangamata with regenerating Kauri forest, some interesting history, a beautiful waterfall and a nice river valley.

Summit Track and Henderson Tramway. A classic Kaimai tramp starting at the summit of Highway 29, going north along the North-South track as far as the Hurunui Hut, then down the Western Henderson Tramway to the Old Kaimai Road.

Christmas Party 04. Seasonal joy on the slopes of the sad mountain.

Waiorongomai and Mt Te Aroha. A tramp in the footsteps of the gold miners of last century and a climb into the clouds cloaking the mountain of love.

Kaimai magic. Henderson Tramway, Hurunui Hut, Radar Dome, Te Wera-iti. A tramp from the Old Kaimai Road to the top of the range and back, taking in some some great ecology and some not-so-great history.

Rainbow Mountain. Cooked earth, steaming cliffs and regenerating vegetation.

Horomanga. A nice level tramp for those who love river crossings. It starts not far from Galagea and follows the Horomanga River.

Blue and Green Lakes, Rotorua. A tramp for a sunny summer's day.

Waitawheta. A walk through the heart of the northern Kaimais.

Tarawera Falls. Waterfalls that gush out of a cliff face.

Stewart Island. An expedition to the Wild South for an extended period of unparalled tramping.

Mangamate. A hill with a view on a fine day. It's on the edge of the Ureweras and it's a kilometer high. Next year it's going to be fine.

Rotoma. A walk on a pumice plateau.

Okataina. Beautiful lake, illusive rata trees, photos never lie.

Aongatete. Close to home but a million miles away. An easy walk at the foot of the Kaimais.

Dalys Hut and Kauri Trees. A beautiful winter's day in the Waitawheta Valley, northern Kaimais.

Mid-winter Party. Do not go here - you don't want to see these awful photos.

Karangahake. Northern Kaimai sentinel of the gold fields.

Hihi Stream. A walk in the Kauaeranga Valley near Thames.
